This collection includes the papers of Captain Edwin F. Greene, a master of the Baltimore coffee fleet in the late 19th-early 20th century. Includes many papers (receipts, payrolls, code books, accounts, manifestos, logs, etc.) relating to ships Capt. Greene mastered or inspected - such as "City of Montreal," "Grace Deering," "Hinkley," "Jason," "Julia," "Liberator," "Packet," "Rosella Smith," "West Gaven," "West Helix," and "Xenia." Many of these papers deal with voyages to South America....

This collection contains correspondence to and from members of the Hicks family, 1833-1883. The primary correspondents include Captain Ratcliffe Hicks, his sons Charles R. Hicks and Alfred Hicks, his daughter Elizabeth Hicks Harding, and her husband, William Harding. The letters contain news on family and business affairs, chiefly news of sea trade.
